This one decision changed the way we help mums carry it all.

Being a mum often means carrying more than anyone sees. There are the obvious responsibilities—looking after the children, managing the home, keeping up with work and appointments—but there is also the invisible mental load of remembering everything, planning ahead, and making sure everyone else is okay.

At Motherwell, we understand that feeling. We have seen how easily mums can put their own needs at the bottom of the list while trying to keep everything else moving. For many mums, asking for help can feel like admitting they cannot handle it all. But we came to realise that asking for support is not a sign of weakness. Sometimes, it is the decision that makes everything else feel more manageable.

That realisation changed the way we think about helping mums.

Instead of asking, "How much more can you fit into your day?" we started asking a different question: "What can we take off your plate?"

It may seem like a small shift, but it can make a meaningful difference. Support should not simply add another task to an already busy schedule. It should give mums back something valuable—time, energy, space, and the opportunity to focus on what matters most to them.

We believe every mum deserves support that fits into real life. Sometimes that might mean having someone help with practical responsibilities. Other times, it might mean creating space to rest, spend meaningful time with family, pursue personal goals, or simply have a moment to breathe without feeling guilty.

The goal is not to make mums do more. It is to help them feel less like they have to carry everything alone.

This one decision—to look at support from the mum's perspective—continues to shape how we help. Because behind every mum who seems to be managing everything is a person who deserves care, understanding, and the right kind of support.

You do not have to carry it all by yourself. And asking for help does not mean you are doing less. It means you are giving yourself the support you deserve.
